Acadia, part one: First Impression

Prepare for photographic inundation!  My trip to Acadia National Park, while brief, was full of photo opportunities.  (Note: I must thank Bucky for my park admission, as it was his military dependent park pass that got me in at no charge- thanks Buck!)  My first day was nice and sunny.  The second day, was quite the opposite: foggy and rainy.  I have to admit, I didn't complain one bit about the rain.  I chose a smaller entrance to the park, and was glad I did.  I think I only passed three or four cars the whole ride in!  My first impression was unforgettable.  I arrived at a granite bridge that looked quite intricate.  When I stopped the car to take a quick picture, I saw a brook running alongside the road.

This bridge was actually built by the Park Service, unlike the other bridges in Acadia.
Those were built by Rockefeller Jr.'s crew, by hand.  No small feat!

I saw this sign for carriage road crossing near the gate in the background.
Rockefeller had a system of carriage trails put in Acadia to encourage
visitors to the area to come from Bar Harbor and the surrounding
areas.  Visitors would picnic and have tea.
